Eligibility Criteria for Voter ID Card in Tamil Nadu

Every Indian citizen who has attained the age of 18 years on the qualifying date i.e. first day of January of the year of revision of electoral roll, unless otherwise disqualified, is eligible to be registered as a voter in the roll of the part/polling area of the constituency where he is ordinarily resident.

CEO Portal Tamil Nadu–If you live in Tamil Nadu then you need to visit the official website of Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu. The website’s link is mentioned below and you can follow the link. The CEO website provides people with all the information related to the elections and the processes. Once you are on the CEO Portal, you then need to scroll down on the page and click on the Online Voter Registration Link.

NVSP– The Online Voter Registration Link will redirect you to National Voter’s Services Portal and this portal is specifically designed to provide all sort of services to the voters. If you are unable to find the link to NVSP then you can also click on the link mentioned below. Once you are on the portal, you need to find the option for Online Registration for New Voters. Find the option and click on the same to get to the form 6.

Filling Form 6– In the next step, you need to fill in the form 6. It should be noted that it is possible to change the language of form 6 from the top right corner. In addition to this, you now need to select your state, district and polling booth. Once that is done, fill in all your personal details and proceed with the form.

Uploading Documents on Form 6– You would also need to upload the documents inForm 6. These documents had to be sent physically earlier but the system has been simplified and you can now simply go ahead and upload the documents to the portal. Step 1: Get an application form from the Electoral Registration Officer or the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of your own constituency, or the Booth Level Officers of your polling station. This form is free of cost.

Step 2: Alternatively you can download the form from the website of the Election Commission here: Form 6

Step 3: Fill and submit the Form 6 along with the needed documents to the Electoral Registration Officer or the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of your constituency or the Booth Level Officers of your polling station.

Step 4: After the successful form submission BLO will visit your residence address for verification purpose and then resubmit your details to CEO Tamil Nadu.
