It also serves as general identity, address, and age proof for other purposes such as buying a mobile phone SIM card or applying for a passport. It is also known as Electoral Photo ID Card (EPIC). Eligibility Criteria for Voter ID Card in Karnataka

Every Indian citizen who has attained the age of 18 years on the qualifying date i.e. first day of January of the year of revision of electoral roll, unless otherwise disqualified, is eligible to be registered as a voter in the roll of the part/polling area of the constituency where he is ordinarily resident.

Here is How to Apply New Voter ID Card in Karnataka Online

Step 1: To apply for a Voter ID Card in Karnataka, you first need to visit the CEO website for Karnataka. A simple google search can take you to the desired website or else, you can also follow this link – http://164.100.80.163/ceo2/hm_ec.aspx

Step 2: Once the page is loaded, you can scroll down on the page and you will notice that there is a section stating ‘I Want to’. Under this section, click on Enroll Online as a Voter and this will now take you to the voter registration portal for Karnataka. You can also access this page directly by going to the link – http://voterreg.kar.nic.in/
Now, on this page, you will notice an option for registering as a new user and you need to click on Register button to start the registration. This will take you to registration screen where you would have to enter your name, email ID, mobile number and sex. Click on the register

Step 3: You will receive an email on your email id quoting your password so now again go to the homepage and sign in using your email ID and the password. The page will now prompt you to change the password. Set a password which is easy to remember and log in again using the new password.

Step 4: Now, a dashboard will be displayed which would have the link to Form 6. Click on Form 6 and select your District along with AC to proceed with the process. In the next step, the complete form 6 will be displayed and you would have to fill the form completely with accurate details.

Step 5: After filling in the details, click on Save and Continue to the Next Page. On the next page, you would have to attach your age proof, address proof and the photo. It should be noted that your photograph should be less than 50 KB in size and the documents should be in PDF format.

Step 6: After uploading the document, click on Final Save and Submission of Application and on the next page, click on Generate Acknowledgement.

Step 7: The page will now generate an acknowledgment number which can be used by you to track the application.

Here is How to Apply New Voter ID Card in Karnataka Offline

Step 1: Get an application form from the Electoral Registration Officer or the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of your own constituency, or the Booth Level Officers of your polling station. This form is free of cost.

Step 2: Alternatively you can download the form from the website of the Election Commission here: Form 6

Step 3: Fill and submit the Form 6 along with the needed documents to the Electoral Registration Officer or the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of your constituency or the Booth Level Officers of your polling station.

Step 4: After the successful form submission BLO will visit your residence address for verification purpose and then resubmit your details to CEO Karnataka.

You can also send the form by post, at the address of the Electoral Registration Officer or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of your constituency. The correct postal address is available on the Election Commission website and pasted below as well for you.
