The Indian voter ID card is an identity document issued by the Election Commission of India to adult domiciles of India who have reached the age of 18, which primarily serves as an identity proof for Indian citizens while casting their ballot in the country’s municipal, state, and national elections. It also serves as general identity, address, and age proof for other purposes such as buying a mobile phone SIM card or applying for a passport. It is also known as Electoral Photo ID Card (EPIC). So, it becomes mandatory for all us to have Voter ID Card so without any more delay let’s move to how you can apply voter id card in Delhi however before that just prepare your documents for voter id card.

Eligibility Criteria for Voter ID Card in Delhi

Every Indian citizen who has attained the age of 18 years on the qualifying date i.e. first day of January of the year of revision of electoral roll, unless otherwise disqualified, is eligible to be registered as a voter in the roll of the part/polling area of the constituency where he is ordinarily resident.

Recent passport size photographs

Address proof (any one of the following)

Copy of proof of age

  • 10th Standard Certificate

  • Pan Card

Identity proof (any one of the following)

Here is How to Apply New Voter ID Card in Delhi Online

If you are eligible for obtaining a Voter ID card then here is the process

  • You can start the process by navigating to the website of the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi. the link to the website is mentioned below

  • You can then find the Enroll Now Option on the top right side of the page and you can click on the Enroll Now Button. This will take you to the website of National Voters Service Portal. If you are unable to find the button then click on the link below

  • Now, on the new page, click on Apply Online for Registration for New Voter. This will take you to Form 6 which needs to be filled by you to register as a voter.
  • You can also change the language of the form from the top right corner of the page and then start filling the details.
  • You would also need to upload a photograph along with an age proof and address proof. Once all the details have been filled verify the details again and submit the form.
  • Once the form has been submitted, a reference ID will be generated and you would need to keep the reference ID safely with you for tracking of the application.
  • After the submission of the application, a verification of the documents would be conducted by the officer and once that is done, an officer would visit your home for the physical verification.
  • Post verification, the voter ID will be issued to you and it will be mailed to you at your address in Delhi.

Here is How to Apply New Voter ID Card in Delhi Offline

Step 1: Get an application form from the Electoral Registration Officer or the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of your own constituency, or the Booth Level Officers of your polling station. This form is free of cost.

Step 2: Alternatively you can download the form from the website of the Election Commission here: Form 6

Step 3: Fill and submit the Form 6 along with the needed documents to the Electoral Registration Officer or the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of your constituency or the Booth Level Officers of your polling station.

Step 4: After the successful form submission BLO will visit your residence address for verification purpose and then resubmit your details to CEO Delhi.

You can also send the form by post, at the address of the Electoral Registration Officer or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of your constituency. The correct postal address is available on the Election Commission website and pasted below as well for you.
