Eligibility Criteria for Voter ID Card in Assam

Every Indian citizen who has attained the age of 18 years on the qualifying date i.e. first day of January of the year of revision of electoral roll, unless otherwise disqualified, is eligible to be registered as a voter in the roll of the part/polling area of the constituency where he is ordinarily resident.

Here is How to Apply New Voter ID Card in Assam Online

  • To apply for voter card, you can first visit the official website of Chief Electoral Officer in Assam. The website can be accessed at the following link –
  • Once the website is displayed, you will see a list of the menu on the left hand side of the screen. In this list, you need to find National Voter’s Services Portal and then click on that option.
  • The national voter’s services portal will now be displayed on a new page and on this portal, you need to click on the link for registration of new voter.
  • You will now be redirected to Form 6 on the same page and this form is basically required to apply for the voter card.
  • Start filling the form from top to bottom and towards the bottom of the page, you will notice that you have space to attach certain documents. In this area, you would have to attach your photograph, age proof, and address proof. Also, select the correct document type in the options.
  • Now, simply submit the form after verifying the details entered by you and your job is now complete. In the backend, the officers will verify your form and the documents and they will then forward the file for the physical verification at your residential address.

Here is How to Apply New Voter ID Card in Assam Offline

Step 1: Get an application form from the Electoral Registration Officer or the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of your own constituency, or the Booth Level Officers of your polling station. This form is free of cost.

Step 2: Alternatively you can download the form from the website of the Election Commission here: Form 6

Step 3: Fill and submit the Form 6 along with the needed documents to the Electoral Registration Officer or the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of your constituency or the Booth Level Officers of your polling station.

Step 4: After the successful form submission BLO will visit your residence address for verification purpose and then resubmit your details to CEO Assam.
